Hearts of Palm

Hearts of Palm are grown Central and South America. It is a vegetable harvested from the inner core of certain palm trees. Harvesting is a labor intensive process, so palm hearts are regarded as a delicacy. During the process of harvesting wild palm trees the palm tree is killed, so for sustainability purposes, Camerican only imports cultivated Hearts of Palm.
